Brenna’s Year in Review

What went well? In 2016 I found a deeper yoga practice. I worked successfully at finding balance with work/life/family. I followed my heart and continue to do what I love. I set intentions of service and approached difficult situations with love and compassion.

What could be improved? Letting go of the small details of a messy house, spending more time with my amazing husband. My meditation practice.

What were your celebrations? 2 Year of Inner Revolution (December 2014 we incorporated), Amazing connections, A husband and family with unbinding love and support for me to follow my dreams.

What does your vision for 2017 look like?
Personal: To deepen my meditation practice and advance my study in inner healing and yogic philosophy.
Family: To be present and mindful with my family. To begin our planning for our one year of service around the world.
Business: To serve more corporations yoga and to run a Functional Yoga Teacher Training for educators.

What is your intention for 2017? To own my journey.

We chose to have the theme service for December because of it meaning. To serve or be of service means giving without attachment to the outcome. When we give just to give we are aligning with our true purpose and we will receive for this service. The problem we face in our generation and the generations behind and in front of us is that there is this feeling of entitlement for everything we do. Our society and culture has created wants which translates and engages the ego. When we work hard and want something the ego creates this linear lower thinking of attachment to the object or thing. If it works out and we get the object or thing of desire, we feel an immediate short term sense of fulfillment. If it works out and we do not get the object or thing we feel a sense of entitlement that we deserved that, it was ours we worked hard. This way of thinking is a disservice to ourselves and others. First we will never truly feel fulfilled by any attachment and learning this lesson can take some very traumatic forms. Second, learning to be of service and to give service has some amazing effects on the individual and the people around them. First when you give like this you get back the same or more of that service in one form or another. It may not be what you see as equal in monetary value but in true energy state it will be energetically equal. Practice service daily to raise your vibration and get more out of your life.

-With the daily intention of service

crossroads
Last week I went for a walk in the woods to clear my head. I wanted to enjoy the snow fall and work on my walking meditation. On my journey there were many paths to take. Like life I choose one but on this journey there were many options to move onto another path, stay on the same one, or break new trail. I felt very confused today about where I should be going. Should I stay on this path, try a new path or break new path. About mid way through my walk at yet another crossword I realized I had a meeting. I had glanced at my phone in the car before I got out but choose to leave it behind. I remember the time being 2:19. My meeting was at 2:30 and I was in the middle of the woods. I panicked and was propelled into the future. I could not decided which way to go…finish the path I was on or go back or break trail to get out faster. I went back and forth and decided to take the same path back. I then realized there was nothing I could do. I started to really become present in this space and like life there are so many paths that have been traveled on. We choose our path. We create our own space. Time is an illusion. If you want more of it create space for it. This is what I did and without attachment or expectation to any outcome. I walked on the path in the woods and became more present then I have ever become before. The difference was that I became present without attachment. I reached the end of my path and back to my car and got to my meeting on time. The lessons here are:
1. Choose a path and allow it to open without attachment to any outcome.
2. You create space and time.
-We all have crossroads. What path you choose will determine the outcome.

surrender-1

Surrender does not mean give up it means let go. Let go of what does not serve you. Take a look at things in your life, in your body, in your mind that do not move you in a positive direction. Then surrender to them. In yoga we use the term surrender to the higher self. Let go of the ego. When we surrender to this higher self we begin cultivating a deep and trusting relationship with the universe, and making each of our actions an offering to something bigger than us.
-Trust. The. Universe.
