In our last post we gave a definition of what mantra is. Mantra is a powerful tool to help release blocks that we have. The first thing is to choose a mantra that works for you. If you feel resistance with the word or phrase you set then change it. If you push into resistance you will be met with more resistance. Try writing a few out and then saying them out loud and to yourself. See how the belly feels. Trust your gut.

Steps for a Mantra Practice:

  1. Set aside a time every day to repeat your mantra
  2. Write out your mantra and put it somewhere you will see it every day
  3. Set aside a time frame to use your mantra for example I like to use a mantra every season. It helps me set my intention for the transition time of the seasons.

Mantra can be a great way to keep you on track of your goals or intentions. Mantras are words we use to help the body and brain connect to a vibration. Traditionally mantras were melodic phrases with spiritual interpretations such as a human longing for truth, reality, light, immortality, peace, love, knowledge, and action. Now days mantras can be a more informal way to bring your intentions into a deeper meaning.

This is a mantra I use a lot in my life and in some of the classes I guide. It helps us tune into the present flow of life and surrender to love.

I release control and surrender to the flow of love that surrounds me.

What is savasana? Savasana is the last pose that you do in a yoga class. This pose seals the deal. No really it does. At the end of a yoga class when you allow your body to sink into this deep state of relaxation you are allowing the rest of the class enter more deeply into the cells of the body. We call this the integration of all the mindfulness, breath, and body work we do during the class.

Slowing down is the key to finding joy in life. If we are able to slow down then we can really experience life as it is happening. If we are rushing through it and always in the future are we really living?

Be present. It’s not enough to just slow down — you need to actually be mindful of whatever you’re doing at the moment. …
Disconnect. …
Focus on people. …
Appreciate nature. …
Eat slower. …
Drive slower. …
Find pleasure in anything.

Let us be reminded each day of the little things that make us smile. For me my top 5 little things I notice everyday are;

  1. Butterfiles
  2. Dandelion Fluff
  3. Colors in nature
  4. The sun
  5. Water

Resiliency is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties. The more we look at our situations as learning tools the more resilience we can cultivate. The more we practice these tools the more we can bounce back.

Ride the Wave

Ride the Wave: it is an emotion, you do not need to block or push it away, you need to be aware of it, it may be uncomfortable or upsetting, just let it be. Just like a wave, let it come and let it go.

Grounding (in bare feet)

Feel your feet firmly on the ground. Feel gravity. Feel the pressure of your body on what is supporting it. Feel the texture of objects with your fingers.

Each and everyone of us chooses our parents. We start as stardust and whatever draws us into creation is our earthly journey. My first beautiful soul came to me on this day in 2010. My job on this earth is to build a supportive foundation for his body, mind and soul to evolve. My job is to heal so that he does not have to carry the pain of our linage. My job is to help him find his dharma and create a life out of fulfilling his gifts to this earth. Thank you Owen for choosing me as your mother.

This goes out to all of us who have had to hide a piece of our heart. For whatever reason we have guarded or blocked a piece of our heart. Keep showing up to work on your heart. As we repair it we become stronger, more alive and more wildly authentic.

Be you and let others be them!

Feeling the slow vibes of summer lately. Sleeping in and taking it slow. In these last few weeks of summer I find myself moving quicker in my thoughts and body. So I practice more stillness. I practice moving slower, speaking slower and being gentle on my body.

What are your vibes in mid summer?
